A common problem for people all over the nation is insurance and dental coverage, or a lack of it. Many people often wait to see a dentist in Cambridge or have corrective procedures done for exactly this reason. This leaves them chewing with trepidation or pain. Don’t wait! At Fresh Pond Dental, we offer affordable dental work in order to keep you and your family healthy.
But With New Healthcare Laws, Aren’t Things Getting Better?
Yes and no. Unfortunately, waiting has become more and more prevalent. President Barack Obama’s Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA), more commonly known as "Obamacare", is slowly being implemented. According to Evelyn Ireland with the National Association of Dental Plans (NADP), “roughly 23 million children” will receive dental care to match their medical care beginning next year. While this is wonderful news, there is a growing side effect that concerns dentists and oral health professionals.
Parents are considering something they never would have before. Almost 50 percent of parents, according to NADP’s research, may drop their own dental insurance once their children are covered through ACA. This added coverage could not have come at a better time. However, the growing trend to “wait” could leave parents in a difficult dilemma.
What Is Wrong With Waiting?
Studies have shown people without insurance visit their dentists less and less often, meaning adults who choose to drop their coverage will wait until their oral health becomes more problematic to see a dentist in Cambridge. Statistically, this means fewer dental cleanings, enabling gingivitis and other oral health concerns to grow into larger problems. While our Cambridge dental office is happy to help with any oral healthcare needs, avoiding those problems is essential to the overall health of our clients.
If you are tired of waiting and would like a consultation, visit or contact our Cambridge dental office. Dr. Mazo and our dental specialists are here to help in family dentistry, periodontal dentistry, or with any oral health concerns you might have.
